Several current commercials and non-related fundraising events context one or another of the elements of September 11 in order to sell a product or solicit funds, without ever specifically referencing it: I am talking things like actors playing fit firemen in order to sell submarine sandwiches, with a background John Henry-style ballad which somehow manages to convey a heroic tone without once mentioning any action more heroic than eating the sandwiches in question. I spotted the first of these types of commercials back in October. I don't know whether they were already airing earlier still.
I think this does not come as a surprise to a single person here.
Have we ever, ever, left the fundamental principle of "might makes right"?
