The 20th is an obvious candidate. However, consider:
>News coverage has improved drastically. We now know what kind of underwear a past U.S. President wears. Bet they didn't mention Queen Victoria's favorite style of skivvies! The same attention to detail applies to wars, skirmishes, and other fracases [fraci?] in earlier times.
>Daily life. The likelihood of getting robbed/mugged/murdered as you went about your normal business, or when you took a trip to a distant place.
>Current events are more vivid because they're current. Compare recent wars to, say, the Crusades, from the viewpoint of the participants.
>Technology has enabled us to wipe out millions with a single push of a button, and has enabled millions to wipe out a few people just by pulling a trigger. Is it more or less violent to kill multiple people at a distance, or to use a sword and end up covered in real blood?
The floor is now open to nominations.
