I am here talking of romantic love, not other kinds of affection, like maternal love, for example. Ask around "what is love" and you'll have all sorts (and generally very definite) opinions. "Friendship plus hormones", "our reptilian brain pushing us to reproduce and find a protector/mother for our children", "a lifelong beautiful search", "the thing that makes the world go round", "a romantic destiny than none can escape", "what I'm telling chicks to start them getting their clothes off"...
Do you believe in "true love"? One? Many? :) Do you believe in the concept of soulmate? Do you think there is "someone waiting for you somewhere" (and only one)? Do you think you have to find the "right person" to be happy in life? That destiny exist in love? Or do you believe much less romantic things, for example that love is a balance between friendship and desire? That it lasts two years, and that after the best than you can hope for is an efficient and cheerful partner to share your life with?
Or that it doesn't exist and is, as a lot of philosophers like to say, an invention of the troubadours in the end of the Middle-Ages?
(This is contradicted by a lot of mythologic tales, btw...)
Despite what Jilsz and Kyle Altis think, anecdotes are welcome here. :) This discussion doesn't have to be 100% serious... And pleaaaaaaaaaase forget quotes. Just tell what you think.
